Sifting through Millions
If you are like me, you always have ideas flowing through your head. It is something that I have done my whole life. I remember as a kid, I would have more ideas that I would know what to do with. I would try to get all of them done, but I always found myself falling short of finishing all of my ideas. I would leave what was like bread crumbs after me with different ideas that I started but would never finish.
Unfortunately, now being married, home owner, dog owner, car owner, full time ministry worker, it really hasn’t changed. There is nothing really that has changed.
Times have changed, my drive has changed, my mind has changed, but for some reason this inevitable long list of ideas that continues grow larger as times change.
Here is my question:
Is there ever such a thing as too many ideas?
I have ideas come into my head in genres like:
1) My life
2) My house
3) My car
4) Youth Ministry
5) Blog
6) Services
7) Design
Reading
9) Conversations needed to have
10) the Future
I have never really thought about it, but I wonder sometimes as I have a large list of ideas, do I have too many ideas in my head? Why do I come up with all of these things always and know that I probably wont get them all done?
I almost want to say that constant ideas are a curse of mine.
Does anyone else feel like they have way too many ideas in your head?
There are all sorts of things that I have tried:
- Producteev (which is what I use now)
- Behance online journal
- Large journals
- iProcrastinate
- Google task list
- Evernote
Some of these things have helped a lot. I continue to use Evernote and Producteev. Even as I continue to get better I still feel as though I dont get enough out of my head.
What do you use?
Any helpful hints for a wandering mind like mine?

I don’t use a program, but I do write down all my ideas. However, I have two basic rules I try to follow. If the idea would take less than five minutes to accomplish, I do it right away. If it is a big project, I will not do anything with it for at least one week. If it is an idea I am passionate about, it will still be good a week or two later. Sometimes it is best to let some ideas die.
Hey Matt,
I really like the write it down and leave it idea. I dont know if I have ever been good at that. I have this inert thing that I think all of my ideas can be produced. thats an awful thought. I will have to try that!
Thanks man! Cant wait to connect next week!
