Searching for 2012

2011 has been an incredible year hasn’t it?

Think about where you were last year on December 29 and think about where you are today on December 29?

What kind of changes have you seen?

Amanda and I have had a crazy blessed year:

- We moved out of an apartment

- We bought our first house

- We adopted/rescued a 3 year old Boxer

- We bought a new/used Scion xB

- Amanda was promoted to supervise a building for Innovations in Learning

- I was promoted to Global Student Life Pastor at Suncrest

Those were definitely the major blocks that will leave 2011 with me.

However there is something that I am beginning to think about for next year:

My thoughts are now moving towards going into 2012. New Years Resolutions are right around the corner and lets be honest, even when we make those lists of things we want to change, we may not really do them. Specifically because they are on a sheet of paper that we will lose track of somehow and sometime in January.

I think what is boggling my mind more is this question:

What are you searching for in 2012?

There are a lot of different answers that you can think of to this question. But if we really think about, its not always what we put on that list of new years resolutions that we change, the things that change in our lives are the things that we are truly searching for.

Here is what I intend to search for:

1) Health — in all aspects of my life, I need to get healthier. I need to work harder at my spiritual health and my personal health are the two big ones.

2) Growth — I want to search guidance for how to grow in many areas of my life  - Student Life, wisdom, maturity.

3) Budget — Along with all of the amazing things that have happened in life this year, finding a budget and sticking to it is one of the greatest gifts I can give to my wife and myself.

4) Encounters — I have a lot of encounters with people that I know and people that I love. To be honest, I really wish I could have more encounters with those that I dont know.

5) Being Open — Open for surprises, new direction and anything that might be coming in the future that I dont know about.

So, what are you searching for in 2012?
