Failing and growing
What is your greatest fear?
That’s a scary question isn’t? It could mean a whole lot. It can open up for interesting conversation. What it really can do though is bring people around you that can help you move through that fear.
For me, the greatest fear of mine is failing. I cant even think about the idea of me failing in anything. I hate it. I can’t stand it. I never want to be apart of it.
That was my soapbox. However, it is not healthy.
In a conversation with my XP earlier this week, it came apparent that failing is part of growing.
I never really thought about it that way, even though I listen to athletes and sports teams talking about how they will learn what they did wrong and take what they did good.
That is exactly what we have to do as Youth Ministers. There is a constant fear of mine, it’s this voice in my head saying “if you do that, no one will come” or ” You can’t do that, your not ready.” Maybe I am the only one that has these kind of voices in my head but it is real distracting and annoying.
We all have ideas, we all have programs that can get tweaked, we all have new ideas to put into our ministry. The hard part is getting over our fear and doing it.
The Fear of Failing will hault any growth in your life and ministry.
Failing leads to growing.
What are you afraid of?
