Fighting in a ring with a ?
Have you ever found yourself in a situation that requires a hard conversation?
One that you really are afraid of having because of the outcome or because of the back lash?
You kind of feel like you are about to:
Get into the ring with whoever it is you need to have the conversation with and punch each other until one of you will listen to the other.
Well I found myself in one of those conversations yesterday.
With a friend in town, it was really the last thing that I could think of that would happen. It was with a student that I care about very much(not saying I dont care about some) and the way that he has been acting the past few weeks.
There was a moment in the conversation where I was really speechless.
” I know I am a senior and act like a 7th or 8th grader. I dont really care.”
What do you say to that?
(O, just for the record, I didn’t tell him he was acting like that, he called himself out.)
It put me into a thought process of spiritual development, personal development and how to help guide students into a growing season while they are in ministry.
I was told by this student that I could tick him off every once in a while because I would ask him the questions from Left field that would make him think, he didnt like that too much.
Although, as a youth worker, I feel like we are called to ask the hard questions. Right?
Isn’t that part of the way we teach? > We as the questions that make them think about their lives.
Isn’t that part of the growth process? > Questions that will lead to change.
Isn’t that part of knowing how to search for God? > Questions that lead us to searching for God’s direction.
Isn’t that part of the way we learn? > We answer questions to learn about ourselves.
Questions can be used for great things in life. They are means to learning, growth, overcoming issues and pushing forward in your life.
How do you use questions?
