Do it or Do it later?
Its fall, which means a few things:
1) Its chilli season. Even though I could eat chilli all the time, its officially chilli season.
2) It’s football season. Both College and Pro. Which do you prefer? Its a tie for me.
3) It is midweek service time for youth groups all over the country.
4) It is kick of time for community groups in churches everywhere.
5) Its getting close to playoffs.
There are many other things that happen in the fall, but there is one of these that sticks out in my head.
Can you guess which one?
Here’s the thing, I am a believer in the power and effectiveness of community groups. I am very much so a supporter of having community groups that meet regularly and are really impacting people’s lives. It is one thing that I will stand by no matter what ministry I am a part of.
Here is the big question that I wrestling with:
How, in youth ministry, do community groups make the most impact?
Is after your midweek service? Is it a separate night of the week? Is it a completely different aspect of your ministry as a whole?
In our current system, we host our community groups on Tuesday nights after our Midweek service. I like them, but I am wondering if that is the best place to host community groups? Could that last half hour of our Tuesday night be used for something different? Something more impacting?
How do you view community groups in Youth Ministry?
