Advance

Philippians 1:12-14

”Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,t that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.”

At the beginning of the summer we started a brainstorming process that lead us to a whole lot different names, ideas, processes and excitement. Throughout the summer as the leaders, volunteers, friends staff of Student Life prayed, thought about and critiqued we came to a conclusion that we had a direction and a way to move forward.

The programs were in place, the ground work was laid and it was time to take that ground work and build up an awesome structure!

Well last night we had the chance to see the fruit of that labor, preparation and sleepless nights.

Advance was ready and we were ready!

There is not much more to say than it was awesome! It was an incredible time to see leaders, friends and students come excited and ready to experience something new and ready to have a great year!

I would love to explain where we are going with Advance.

We stopped and took a step back and started from the goal. The goal of any student ministry should be to create fully devoted disciple of Jesus Christ in students.

The Mission/Vision of Advance is: To be used by God to change Student’s Live’s.

The Goal of Advance is: To Advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Student’s lives.

As a strategy, at Suncrest Christian Church we follow 4 C’s:

  1. Cultivate a personal Relationship with Jesus
  2. Care about people far from God
  3. Connect in relationships where truth meets life
  4. Contribute by serving those around you
Advance is designed and programmed to meet and intentionally give a focus to all of these pieces of becoming a disciple of Jesus.
We are very excited and very humbled by the power that God has by bringing a great number of people together for the first night of Advance.
I personally cannot think of anything more than being Thankful for all of the help that has been given by lots of people to make this dream of mine come true.
I am looking forward to a new season of Student Life programs and a new season of seeing what God will do through us to advance into the lives of students.
