God gives blessing
Daniel 4:34b-35:
Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.
His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35 All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”
Have you ever prayed like this?
Given God all the glory He truly deserves? It is incredible to think that God deposes the proud and upholds the humble.
King Nebuchadnezzar went through that in his life. Dream after dream, he worried and Daniel, with the power of God interpreted his dreams. Even when it came to his destruction.
Proverbs 11:2:
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.”
The king had to learn this. King Nebby(too long to type the whole thing out), grew so much, grew in power, in people, in land and began to think of himself as a god. Began to be prideful even after God showed his power through Daniel in the dream of the statue.
I love the way Daniel 4 ends:
Daniel 4:37
“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.”
Even the most powerful of people, the power of a nation, the king of a nation, even then, God shown through in his glory of teaching a lesson that Pride will lead to destruction.
God will bless, guide, comfort and take care of his people. He promised to lead people into eternal life as they believe in his Son. King Nebby learned this while eating grass in the field, growing feathers and becoming like a bird.
Could you imagine, becoming so prideful that in some way, God had to break you down, took you out of the place where you felt comfortable, out of the place of power to be taught a lesson?
It is interesting to me how sometimes those lessons can come in different ways, different times and different places.
I encourage you to pray to God for humility. A humble spirit that will look to God in all aspects of your lives.
God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.
