Halting Dreams
Have you ever thought about how to:
create a passionate community of christ followers?
create a come as you are culture?
allow people to serve in the right areas of their lives?
what about a place that people flock too the church, like the 5,000 men that sprinted through towns to find Jesus?
how do you teach the gospel and not scare people away?
Recently i was priviledged to have a conversation with a friend of mine that brought about many questions without many answers. It was a great conversation that really made me think about church and what I dream about. Some of the questions that I asked above, were just of the questions that were asked, but I think they all somehow describe how we dream of church.
I DREAM: of a youth ministry that is violently following Jesus. That uncontrolably love people and accept people as they are. A place that desires people to fall in love with Jesus just as they have before. A place that allows people to be themselves and not feel judged. A culture of needing Jesus and not just routinely getting Jesus. A community that moves from a self-centered lifestyle to a self-less lifestyle. A serve first, rather than last mentatlity.
As a pastor, you can continually dream, you can continually think of different things that you wish you would see in your congregation. I think the question is now more than anytime in my life, is how do you make those things happen? How do those things change?
I need some help.
Can anyone give me any advice?
