What makes a good leader?

So I have been wrestling with this the past few months and I want to get it out there and see what others have to say.

What makes a good leader?

There are so many different books, articles, people, sermons out there that are all about leadership. So many, sometimes it can get overwhelming. My thought is that a good leader knows there strength and weaknesses. It seems like there is a lot more than that if you want to be a good leader.

Is it communication skills? Maybe not just preaching but allowing multiple people know about what is going on. Doing the communication aspect of ministry or job by themselves. Maybe communication has to do with the amount of communication they have, lots versus none or little.

Is it preaching? God has given the gift of preaching to a lot of people. If you are a good preacher does that mean you are a good leader? Does that mean people will follow you?

What about organization? Good leaders are all organized right? Or is it that leaders know how to delegate to others to get things done?

There are so many other ideas that makes a good leader. These are the ones that I am struggling with. Are these the important ones?

Romans 12:8

“if it is encouraging, let him encourage, if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously, if it is LEADERSHIP, let him govern diligently, if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully”

Daniel 12:3

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightest of the heavens and those who LEAD many to righteousness like the stars for and ever and ever”

Hebrews 13:7

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

Is this the model?

Who are you imitating? Who are you leading?
