Devo#4 Go
There is something that always seems to get to me. It is something that I feel like is such an easy concept but yet so hard to follow through with.
GO!
Go sell all your possesions and follow me.
These easy words, but yet extremely hard concepts.
Where to? Why? How long? Really?
These are questions that come to my head when I hear those commands. You there is something different that should happen.
Early in the Bible in the book of Genesis, there’s a guy names Abram that demonstrates what we should do when we we hear these words.
Genesis 12:
1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.
6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring [a] I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. 9 Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.
The LORD came to Abram and told him to go, and he did. No hesitation.
I heard this story once about a boy playing baseball, a boy that was not very coordinated. He was told to steal second base. This was the Championship game for his conference tournament. He was told to GO, and he said no. multiple times.
Moses denied God 5 times before he agreed to go to Pharaoh, but he wouldnt even talk, he had his brother talkfor him.
Why is it so hard to GO, when God calls us too.
Where are you being called to?
Is it a new job? A new living area? A new church? New friends?
What is stopping you from Going blindly?
The boy that hesitated, said no multiple times, finally gave in and went, and they won the tournament.
Moses went on to Egypt and led the Israelites out of slavery.
Abram, went on to be Abraham and the Lord blessed him because he went without hesitation.
Where do you need to Go?
