Relational Tip #3
Pay Attention:
So here is the big picture of things, as a 22 year old getting ready to decide what ministry I will serve in next I feel like I am out of touch with what is “in” with youth today. Here’s the next thing that I can help with: THAT’S OK!!!!
In my opinion youth of toda want to feel like they can teach us something just as much as we want to teach them. According to Hancock this newer generation, I guess could be apart of but he describes them as a boomerand generation. One that will leave their parents early but return to live with the parents indefinitely.
Here is what we can do as volunteers, shut up and let the students talk. We can learn a whole lot about not only what is going on in the media but also about what is going on in their lives. Sometimes students will tell or talk a lot more than they plan on if we as volunteers just listen.
So do yourself a favor and just try to listen for a while instead of you raddling on about your high school life and listen to theirs.
